Decided to dedicate a specific thread to Metalica as they were or still are a pretty legendary rock music band. My fav tune of em is probably enter sandman as the guitar tones go into the stratosphere. Anyone else like them on this forum?Huh

The Queen and Freddie Mercury thread. - ledders69 - 24-07-2011

Another artist that i have been playing like mad recently have been Queen and i have to say that Freddie Mercury was a legend with his singing vocals. The rest of the band pulled together too and their music was crowd pleasing and they went on numerous tour dates. In actual fact Bohemian Rhapsody was xmas number one on a couple of occasions firstly in 1975 then in 1991 with a double a side of These are the days of our lives. 1991 was also the year that Freddie Mercury died of Pneumonia.Sad

He may have died but the music left a legeacy of praise and a lot of albums were released as a result of it. Wonder what the rest of the FM'S opinions of Queen were as i had them and still have them in high regard.Smile

The Saturdays. - ledders69 - 17-08-2011

Thought i'd start a thread about The Saturdays and the fact that i have become a new fan of them. It was down to their All Fired Up performance on Tonights the Night and the fact they looked after Connie Nash like a sister too. A very welcoming band with a lot of talent and i will post You Tube links to their records soon. Back to Connie Nash she could actually become a 6th Saturday, who knows?

They are also very sexy and if anyone has any photos whatsoever of them please post on here.HeartBig Grin

Where Do You Go To (My Lovely)? - Carlos Smythe - 18-10-2012

I'm so hooked on this song, Where Do You Go To (My Lovely)? Does anyone else like it or want to comment? For anyone not clear on which song it is, this is the Peter Sarstedt song which was a big hit in 1969. I got hooked by the lyrics of this song the first time I heard it. If you don't like it maybe start a thread with your favourite?

RE: Where Do You Go To (My Lovely)? - Obelisk - 21-10-2012

It's an interesting song. It starts off by describing Marie-Claire's lifestyle and seems to imply that she is living in a shallow and pretentious way. However the chorus implies that her background is very different from her present situation, and 'I want to look inside your head' means that he wants to know if she can remember the past, and if she's any happier now than she was then. Then we learn that the two of them grew up together in a poor part of Naples, but they both hated the stigma of being poor and tried hard to better themselves. Then he meets Marie Claire and looks into her eyes. He knows then that she does remember the past and that she's in a constant state of denial about it. Becase she is in a constant state of denial she cannot be happy ('But I still know you bear the scar, deep inside') and also she surrounds herself with people who are superficial who don't really care about her ('But they don't know where you came from. And I wonder if they really care, or give a damn'). What I don't find it clear from the song whether he still admires her though or instead perhaps feels some bitterness towards her?

The only thing I know about this song is that it's often been alleged to be about Sophia Loren, although I understand that this theory isn't true.
