To be exact it's been 9 seasons since they were founded and they needed 5 promotions to do it. They got 2 of the promotions via play offs but then they failed in play offs twice too. Yes it's a great achievement.

Chris Hughton was appointed manager of Birmingham City yesterday. He did a good job at Newcastle, but it'll be hard to repeat that achievement at Birmingham with so many players leaving the club since being relegated.
